Don’t we all just love Tata? Here are some cool Mandela Day events – on July 18 – to spend your 67 minutes on.

Serve soup to the homeless

Mandela Rhodes Place, Cape Town
Monday, 1pm

Spend your 67 minutes on the day helping Ladles of Love hand out warm soup and bread to the homeless.

If you’re not able to stay and serve the soup, you could always donate money or winter clothing to help keep the city’s homeless residents well fed and warm.

Donate a blanket

Nelson Mandela Square, Joburg

Head to Auto & General Theatre on the Square by July 17 to donate a hand-knitted blanket to the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day organisation.

Donate cans of food

Canal Walk’s Promotions Court, Cape Town

Monday, 9am to 5pm

Donate one or more cans of food and help construct the largest food-can mosaic in South Africa.

The mosaic – in the shape of the Nelson Mandela Day logo – will use 6 700kg of cans, which will be distributed to social development projects.
