‘My wife falls asleep after sex’

accreditation

Reader: I read somewhere that a women takes 17 to 23 minutes to reach orgasm, but my wife doesn’t even last five minutes and then she falls into a deep sleep.

Jade: What you read are averages. It’s perfectly normal to take much less or more time to reach climax. Every woman is different. As for her falling into a deep sleep: Sex and orgasm release feelgood hormones called oxytocin and vasopress. This is accompanied by the release of melatonin, which is responsible for regulating our body clock and inducing sleep. This is probably why she falls asleep.

Reader: I had sex with my partner after eight months of not doing so. What surprised us was that the sex was very good, but we experienced some bleeding in each round. We could not identify where the bleeding was from. I’m 59 years old and at my age don’t menstruate and I’m no virgin. Could it be that my man has not been sexually active for the past eight months and something was triggered in the act? He is 56 years old. We enjoyed sex so much, no pain from me. We thought it was anxiety because we were both so hungry for sex.

Jade: I can’t think why there’d be bleeding. Consult your medical practitioner if the bleeding persists. There should be no bleeding or pain during sexual intercourse.

Reader: I want to enlarge my penis but I’m not sure of the side effects of the extension. Is it safe to have an enlargement?

Jade: What makes you say you need to enlarge your penis? Is it your own feeling or has someone said something? Is it an insecurity that could be dealt with through therapy? Remember, while a partner may prefer a larger-than-average penis, there is a thing as too big. If you still want an enlargement, I’d suggest you consult a urologist who specialises in this field.
