Africa can’t get enough of Our Perfect Wedding.

Since it first appeared on our small screens in 2011, fans of Mzansi Magic’s wedding reality format have been making a double date with the TV and their Twitter feeds as they tune in to watch the couples, the dresses, the families – and the many faux pas.

Kenya soon got their own version on M-Net’s Maisha Magic East and later Our Perfect Wedding Zambia launched on M-Net’s Zambezi Magic.

Now two more countries have joined the wedding party, with the first episode of Our Perfect Wedding Nigeria last Sunday.

Our Perfect Wedding Zimbabwe will announce its big news later this year.

Nigeria’s host is last year’s Big Brother Naija contestant, Vanessa Emikhe-Williams. The show is co-produced by Adeola Oloyede and Suleiman Kazeem is the executive producer. It airs on Africa Magic Showcase.

Said Emikhe-Williams before the debut: “This is an exciting opportunity for me and viewers can expect to be entertained.”

MultiChoice Nigeria’s chief customer officer, Martin Mabutho, said: “The show has been successful in other African markets, such as South Africa and Kenya. We’re elated to bring it to Nigeria. Viewers will experience the magic and celebration of love. Of all the awesome wedding shows we’ve had on DStv, this without a doubt holds a lot of drama, fun and excitement and we are delighted to bring it to the country.”

Our Perfect Wedding Nigeria will compete against a plethora of wedding shows in the country, including Nigeria’s Top Weddings on Fox Life (DStv channel 126).

Statistics tell us fewer and fewer people are getting married nowadays – but we’re increasingly delighted to watch others take the plunge. – #Trending reporter

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
