Organic was the buzz word at a luxurious junket in the Cape this week. The occasion was the launch of Organics’ new Anti Hairfall shampoo and conditioner (that’s anti your hair falling out, not anti your hair).

A jabbering pack of beauty, health and lifestyle influencers met up at the sleek, modern four-star Protea Hotel Fire & Ice Cape Town. Among them were professional surfer Teal Hogg, beauty and lifestyle blogger Dhanusha Dhoorgalu, mompreneur Buhle Mabanga, nutrition enthusiast and sociology lecturer Chesney van Niekerk, singer-songwriter Chad Saaiman and travel blogger Sue Duminy.

The next day, after a drive out to the enchanting Babylonstoren wine estate, we would meet up with our not unhot hosts, TV and fitness personalities Ryle de Morny and Stacey Holland.

Babylonstoren farm.

Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms and is an Eden of organic produce. A mini breakfast was waiting for us before we were divided into groups to go charging out on a scavenger hunt. The bounty? Organics products, obvs. As we jostled along, we were given a mini lecture on green tea. Why? Who knows.

Our team was the first to finish and ring the farm’s giant bell. Then it was time for Holland, host of DStv’s The Real Health Show, to introduce the hair products designed to promote a healthy scalp that retains its hair. Think ginseng and nourishing almond oil.

Our reporter wasn’t sure what to maker of the innovative food – except that it was organic

Once more it was time for food – and, good heavens, the creativity on offer! So beautifully set up was our buffet I thought I was at a wedding. A long dining table was beautifully adorned with candles and, er, hair products.

My tongue didn’t know what hit it, with all the new flavours – few to my taste – all made with produce from Babylonstoren’s garden.

Being on a wine farm, you’d expect great wines, and great wines were served, even if the same can’t be said for the oversweet desserts. And the music? The croaking of frogs in the distance, as organic as it gets.

Thanks to our scavenger hunt win, our team received vouchers for Babylonstoren’s market.

No guessing what I picked up – wine, of course.
