The Wedding Bashers

We all love indulging in any content related to weddings – and now
M-Net’s show, The Wedding Bashers, is back for a second season with a couple of improvements from its first attempt.

It starts today, covering more diverse and eclectic weddings, one at a time.

Well-known wedding planner Zavion Kotze and socialite Denise Zimba return and are joined by Miss SA 1995 Bernelee Daniell and renowned chef and food stylist Zola Nene – who replace former Miss SA Cindy Nell-Roberts and chef Siba Mtongana.

Foursome Kotze, Zimba, Nene and Daniell have far greater chemistry than the season one group.

What makes them work together even better is that the four bashers are adaptable – and, most importantly, have a sense of humour.

From watching the first episode you can feel that they’re genuinely having fun and enjoying one another’s quirkiness and company – possibly outside the show too.

One would imagine that Nene and Daniell would find it challenging coming into a group that already existed, but they all gel extremely well together and create many laughs.

Especially the ever-entertaining and silly Zimba.

Unlike season one, this time the format has changed slightly.

There are 17 episodes with a wedding on each show (instead of two weddings a show).

The extended episodes give viewers a far better experience of the event.

And there will be a leaderboard to keep track of the top weddings that will go through to the final.

The four judges are sweet in their scoring of the weddings – but it would be great if they incorporated more criticism that speaks to their industry expertise.

Nevertheless, this is definitely a show worth watching before Carte Blanche prepares you for the Monday blues.

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
