The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has sent its condolences to the Mashego family following the death of Vinolia Mashego in a statement released to the media.
The popular TV personality died at the age of 56. Vinolia's sister, Prelley Mashego, confirmed the news to Channel24 on Monday.
Vinolia's father Collin Mashego told DRUM that she died peacefully in her sleep and was found in her Mamelodi home.
"V-Mash", as she was affectionately known, co-hosted the highly popular music variety show, Jam Alley from 1994-2001. She also played the role of the feisty and career drove Hilda Letlalo on Generations in the nineties, starred on SABC 1 drama series Mutual Friends as Patty in 2014 and in 2019 she enjoyed a role in the SABC 2 drama, Giyani: Land of Blood.
"She graced the South African entertainment industry with a unique presenting style that has continued to serve as an inspiration for upcoming as well as established media personalities. Through her outstanding craft, V-Mash won the nation's heart," said the statement.

The SABC statement continued: "She connected with her audiences in a special way which saw her become a household name and has left an indelible mark in the South African entertainment industry."
"She will be remembered for her bubbly and energetic personality that changed the outlook of presenting for the better. Her exceptional work has been preserved in the SABC's archives and will continue to serve as a remembrance for the remarkable legacy she left in the broadcasting industry," the release concluded.
