Rhodes claims the students were expelled for their "conduct beyond lawful boundaries" following #RUReferenceList protests against rape culture at the University in 2016. The expulsion was handed down on 17 November.
The two student activists were found guilty of kidnapping, assault, defamation and insubordination.
The expulsion has sparked the #RhodesWar outcry on social media after the SABC published an interview with the expelled students.
