Former Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said he would not be making an appeal for his reinstatement in the upcoming national congress of the trade union federation.
Speaking at a briefing to explain why he was “surgically removed”, Vavi said that he would be on the “right side of history” because he opposed the removal of 340 000 workers from the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa – something that was “unheard of in the democratic world”.
Vavi was coy about what exactly his future held but was adamant that he would continue to struggle for workers till he died.
