WATCH: Winnie kept the Mandela name alive - Rev Jesse Jackson

American civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson praised Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on Friday and said former president Nelson Mandela was known through her efforts. 

Jackson was among several dignitaries who gathered outside Madikizela-Mandela's home in Soweto. 

"She was the face of the Free South Africa Movement," he said.
