'My father threw me out of the house' - South African living with HIV

accreditation

Jennifer Sanasie is joined on Skype by Shawn Spammers, a South African living with HIV. Spammers advocates for an open and honest understanding of the virus in South Africa.

He tells us his parents threw him out of the house when he was 17-years-old, after he revealed to his family that he is HIV positive, adding "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Watch him share his inspiring story of getting past his diagnosis. At the time of this interview Spammers had been in a seven year long relationship with someone who is HIV negative, he gives us an insight into how he disclosed his status to his partner.
