After steering away from covering political violence and social ills, Ruth Motau has been documenting ordinary people’s lives for decades.

The first time Ruth Seopedi Motau picked up a camera, it was way before she knew that photography would become her passion and career. She stumbled upon a camera at home at the age of 13 and would take photographs for her sister to develop in the darkroom where she worked.
