Rhodes University name unlikely to change - Professor

accreditation

The Centre for Conflict Resolution hosted a public dialogue in Cape Town last week, debating the legacy of Cecil Rhodes. Guest speaker, Emeritus Professor of History at Rhodes University Paul Maylam, joins us in studio to discuss the public view. Watch.

In this video we tackle the issue of the Rhodes University brand. Prof Maylam seems to think that if democratic processes are followed, relevant parties at the University will vote in favour of retaining the name of Cecil Rhodes.

Students at UCT baying for the removal of a statue of Cecil Rhodes on campus has sparked a nationwide debate around Rhodes' legacy in Southern Africa and issues of transformation in South African universities.
